Coach Steve’s Experience
Through his journey in academy baseball, college, and professional settings, Coach Steve has had the privilege of working with athletes at every level — from former MLB catchers and professional players to college commits and developing youth catchers.
His coaching philosophy has been shaped by years of being mentored by some of the best in the game — from his youth coaches who instilled the value of work ethic and respect, to former World Series champions, current big-league catching coaches, and college-level instructors who helped refine his approach to teaching movement, communication, and leadership behind the plate.
These influences helped Steve build the Iron Catching System, a proven framework centered around three pillars:
Mindset — confidence, leadership, and mental toughness.
Build — movement, mechanics, and consistency under pressure.
Perform — compete with control and execute when it matters most.
